Sean D’Antoni @ the Dresden

Trumpet/Flugelhorn/Vocals

NJ/NYC/PHL Music Bio
Sean D’Antoni is an eclectically influenced professional trumpet / flugelhorn player quickly making his mark on the Jersey Shore music scene. Through Sean’s extensive performing history dating back to his early youth, he has developed a style of playing reminiscent of such legendary musicians as Chet Baker, Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock, just to name a few.
Prior to pursuing his University music studies, Sean was selected to perform in several regional and state sanctioned music collectives ranking at the top in each category. Sean studied in clinics with Joe Mosello (of Blood Sweat and Tears) and Maynard Ferguson which led to showcasing extremely challenging charts for a live audience with their original composers. Following high school, Sean attended the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music at Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. on a music scholarship. While majoring in music education, Sean performed at the Basilica of the Nation Shrine for government officials and dignitaries alike on multiple occasions, most which were nationally televised. Sean studied under Langston Fitzgerald of the Baltimore Symphony and David Flowers of the National Symphony, amongst many others.
After college, Sean played professionally both in the studio as a session player and freelance at weddings, memorials, and other events. He developed a passion for original music composition and has created his own flavor and style of playing that has since captivated audiences wherever he plays. This passion led to many opportunities to sit in with local bands. In 2011 he joined a local funk fusion band, Monkeys in the Dark. During this time, he opened for such acts as George Clinton and The Parliament Funkadelic and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. He played countless festivals and venues such as The Bowery Electric in NYC, Soulsational Music Festival, Brooklyn Blowout, Restore the Shore Hurricane Sandy Benefit music festival and many others. Being known for his remarkable ability for on the spot freestyle solo work, Sean is regularly asked to guest perform with other bands that share the bill.
After leaving Monkey’s in the Dark, Sean was quickly scooped up by local hip-hop artist, Chris Rockwell, for a new project. Through this, Chris Rockwell and the Stickball Social Club was born. The band quickly became a local sensation and, soon enough, were regularly asked to perform nationally opening for many celebrated artists. They played the main stage at the world renowned Trocadero in Philadelphia, and headlined legendary Asbury Park venues like The Stone Pony, The Wonder Bar, The Saint, and The Strand Theater. Their reputation for high energy performances and flawless musicianship awarded them opportunities to open up for acts such as Bootsy Collins, The Ohio Players, Alien Ant Farm, Das EFX,

Keith Murray, and Remember Jones. Sean and the band then went on to record an 8 track album “Hometeam Animals” which debuted to a packed house at The Stone Pony. The album was well received with local acclaim and a nomination for best new album at The Asbury Music Awards. The band dissolved in 2015 in order for the members to pursue new projects.
Sean currently plays trumpet/flugelhorn and sings in the Jersey Shore cover band Don’t Know Jack. Once a trio, Sean was asked to sit in on a few gigs with Don’t Know Jack. The audience’s reaction whenever he was on stage sealed his spot in the band and he has been with them for 3 years now. In 2016, Don’t Know Jack was nominated for an Asbury Music Award as the best local cover band. They continue to book steady gigs at local clubs, bars and private events throughout NJ, performing at least weekly.
In addition to Don’t Know Jack, Sean has been performing with Jake Tavill and the Indigo Child Blues Band (ICBB). The band was just nominated as the best young band at the 2016 Asbury Music Awards. Currently, they just finished recording a 7 track album at the infamous Shore Fire Studios in Long Branch, NJ with a full brass section. Sean has performed with Jake Tavill at numerous festivals throughout the Northeast and recently played along the sidelines at the NYC Marathon. The band plays venues throughout the Northeast such as House of Independents in Asbury Park, The Bowery Electric in NYC, The Asbury Hotel, and The Saint.
As always, Sean continues as a freelance musician for many recording studios around NJ, NYC and Philadelphia. You can find him on albums with Monkeys in the Dark, Joseph Miller, Ben Wilton, Manda Morris, Def Ray, Jake Tavill, and Chris Rockwell and the Stickball Social Club.
Sean is currently in California with Jake Tavill and the ICBB after being invited to perform at the prestigious 2017 Anaheim NAMM conference. They will be playing the Marriot Stage at 11:00pm on Thursday.
